Abstract EN

Countries are increasing their interest in higher education and scientific research markedly in recent years.

Since the research work of university professors and graduate students is the tool that will lead to University performance, interest has increased for knowing the negative aspects that affect the performance quality of university professors and graduate students for scientific research, and thereby affect the performance of achieving the goals of the University such as knowledge transfer and technological innovation, which reflect to society and human progress and advancement.

The conduct of scientific research and the application of its results in developing curricula is one of the key factors in raising the level of universities.

The clearer and most important quantitative indicator used nowadays to signify and to evaluate the efficacy of learning and development process, which is considered one of the most important indicators to assess the situation of scientific research, is the length of time spent by faculty members to move from a lower degree to a higher degree.

Therefore, this study will analyze these periods and provide a full description and use of a point estimate and forecast the longest and shortest period that a faculty member, teaching assistance and lecturer to move from degree to a higher one using the method of upper and lower record values.

This modern statistical method has a great importance in terms of being applied in many different areas of life and help to predict the future using values recorded in the upper and lower after the latest period, i.e.

recording the sense that the longer time period and less than another period of crisis, recording and transmission to the higher degree.

This study will be applied to female faculty members of King Abdulaziz University-Female Section as a model and it focused on four periods of time between degrees from 1983 to 2009.

Preliminary description of the four periods of study is obtained and record values used on the basis that the data follow the normal distribution.
