Collective Endowment (Waqf) plays a constructive role in the service of communities not only in the Islamic and Arab countries, but also in the whole world.

It served as the power that pushed the Muslim community towards growth and development through providing all requirements of development.

Rich Muslims shouldered a great responsibility through the endowments they established.

These endowments were very productive in the history of Islam.

People from all segments of the society competed among themselves in establishing waqf institutions.

Princes, governors, ministers, scholars and people of all social classes participated in establishing endowments, which resulted in the development of a flourishing and prosperous civilization.

Through my readings and research on issues pertaining to the ongoing endowment system, I noticed that the library lacked one important issue: Collective Endowment was not addressed by many scholars.

Collective Endowment means“ the act by several persons to endow one single property that belongs to them.

This can have specific management in a single contract or multiple contracts to achieve the purpose intended by the donors.

One of the forms of collective endowment established by the General Secretariat of Awqaf in the State of Kuwait is the Endowment Funds that are based on the establishment of specialized departments that aim at offering community service for public or individual welfare in the community.

Examples of such Endowment Funds are:The Endowment Fund for the care of the mosques, Fund for maintenance and renovation of mosques, Fund for the cultural and social programs pertaining to mosques, and Fund for general support of the Ministry of Awqaf
