Abstract EN

The income, expenditure and saving are considered the corner stones on which the standard of living of families is built worldwide.

Therefore, whenever the income is high and expenditure is low, an amount of money can be saved representing a safety shield for the family against future financial crises.

This study aims at identifying the levels of income and expenditure in the Saudi Community through discussion of some social and economic characteristics on level of the Governorates of Eastern Province emphasizing on three scopes that are approximately similar in their social, environmental and geographical conditions so as to reach a solution for the problems resulting from high living cost in the Kingdom in general.

The study has been based on a number of hypotheses most important of which : - The Saudi family generally faces many problems one of which is that the aspects of expenditure exceeds the income .

- The levels of income and expenditure vary between the scopes of Eastern Province affected by social and environmental level.

- Dammam city represents a leading power in levels of income and expenditure in Eastern Province.

For achieving the goals and making sure of the hypotheses, the study discussed, in a scientific approach and through questionnaires which are regarded as the corner stones of this study, a number of study domains such as geographical dimensions for the area of the study and demographical and economic characteristics for inhabitants of Eastern Province and aspects of income and expenditure and locational patterns.

Then the statistical analysis for relation between aspects of income and expenditure in the Saudi Community is implemented, and finally the geographical evaluation phase for standard of living of the inhabitants of the Kingdom and how it is compared with standard of living for other similar communities.

The study comes outs with a number of results and recommendations and also verified the accuracy of the above hypotheses, that is to say the Saudi family faces many economic problems one of which is that the aspects of expenditures incredibly exceeds the income and the varying degrees of income and expenditure among the different areas of Eastern Province affected by the social and environmental level.

Regarding the third hypothesis.

the study indicates that the southern area represents the purchasing power for the region under study and not the Eastern Province as presumed by the researcher.
