In an era labeled and influenced by communication and information, the only way to blaze a trail in such a stiff competition is to be armed with Knowledge whose definitions are varied and even confused with other terms such as data and information.

However, we agreed upon the definition that Knowledge is the outcome of information, experience, perceptions and the ability to judge things.

Knowledge management in the security arena is the section job of which is garnering, coding, classifying, managing and storing information, in addition to retrieval and dissemination.

There are two sources for the acquisition of knowledge; the internal source, and the external one.

Internal resources can be manifested in the daily knowledge acquired while practicing various activities, as well as the innate knowledge of the members of organization on the different issues.

Whereas, the external ones are any resource from which security institution can acquire, gamer, store and classify knowledge with an eye to availing of it in uplifting performance.

Knowledge management has a pivotal role in rehabilitating, training, and selecting the security personnel as well as employing it as per requirements.

Besides, knowledge can be utilized in opting for the appropriate and modem devices and equipments which help catch up with the new crime trends.
