يتحدث البحث عن موضوع الإشارة، و يمر سريعا على نظرة الفلاسفة اليونانيين و المدرسة السكولائية (المدرسية) للقرون الوسطى، و كذلك ما طرحته الفلسفة الحديثة بخصوص الموضوع.
قبل الدخول إلى الموضوع الجوهري للبحث يجري التطرق إلى أشكال صدور كتاب "دورس في اللسانيات العامة" لدي سوسير و الذي لم يصدر خلال حياته، بل بعد وفاته مبنيا على أساس الملاحظات التي دونها اثنان من طلابه.
ثم يتطرق البحث و بشكل تفصيلي إلى الموضوعات التي طرحها دي سوسير و التي أثارت إشكالات و نقاشات و تأويلات مختلفة في الدرس اللساني المعاصر.
أول هذه الإشكالات هو موضوع الدال و المدلول إذ يثبت البحث أنه جرى تأويل نظرة دي سوسير بشكل خاطئ من بعض اللسانين الناطقين بالانجليزية و كذلك معظم اللسانين العرب.
كذلك يتطرق البحث إلى مسألة اعتباطية الإشارة و يستعرض الآراء المختلفة فيما يخصها.
و النقطة الأخيرة التي يتناولها البحث هي موضوع خطية الدال و التي تعد النقطة الثالثة الأساسية المتعلقة بطروحات سوسير في موضوع الإشارة.
Abstract EN
The research deals with the problem of the Sign and discusses the ideas of Greek philosophy, Scholasticism of the Middle Ages, and Modern Philosophy.
Before discussing the main issue, the research deals with the problems concerns the publishing of de Saussures death, on the basis of the notes by two of his students.
The research then discusses in detail issues that were so controversial and that caused many discussions in modern linguistics.
The first of them deals with the relation between the signifier and the signified.
The second is about the arbitrariness of the sign.
And the third is about linear nature of the signifier.
