Abstract EN

A new series of 6-iodo-2-thienylquinazolin-4(3H)-one and its fused heterocyclic analogs were prepared and screened for their antimicrobial activity.

Compounds 4, 8, 14 and 24 showed remarkable broad spectrum antimicrobial activity.

The fused heterocycles, 1, 2, 4-triazino [3,4-c] quinazoline, benzimidazo[1,2-c]quinazoline and quinazoline-bearing thiazolidinone moiety proved to contribute for antimicrobial activity.

The detailed synthesis and their antimicrobial screening are reported.
