Abstract EN

This study aims to detect the new roles played by the university library to contribute to the institutionalization of the knowledge society, through the implementation of an integrated policy of the jobs and services that reflect the efficiency in responding to the academic environment changes particularly with regard to the needs of users which increasingly complex, the librarian consequently will be forced to change its strategy towards a new form of library with more sophisticated knowledge services making it completely integrated into the educational system and research, i.e.

re-inventing the library.

The study concluded that the university library is responsible for the development of higher education towards a knowledge society through the application of its standards on its performance with regard to the crucial role in the educational process and providing innovated services based on technology.
