يهدف هذا البحث إلى (1) تحديد بعض الأفعال التي تتسم بتعدد المعاني و الاشتراك اللفظي في القرآن الكريم.
(2) تبيان المعادلات الترجمية لهذه الأفعال في الإنكليزية، (3) تحديد طريقة ترجمة هذه الأفعال، (4) تحديد بعض المشكلات التي تنجم عن ترجمة هذه الأفعال، (5) تقديم مقترح لحل هذه المشكلات، (6) اختيار ترجمة فعالة أو اقتراح ترجمة جديدة بحيث تتوافق مع التفسير الديني و المجال الدلالي لهذه الأفعال في لغة الأصل.
و لتحقيق هذه الأهداف تفترض الدراسة ما يلي : (1) لا توجد علاقة متكافئة بين هذه الأفعال في لغة الأصل و معادلاتها الترجمية في لغة الهدف، (2) ترجمة هذه الأفعال تتأثر بالخلفية الثقافية للمترجمين، (3) يمكن إعطاء ترجمة فعالة فقط في حالة اتباع التقابل الحرفي مع الترجمة التواصلية.
