This study was carried out at the Animal Farm, Agriculture Experimental Station, College of Agriculture, University of Basrah during the period from 1st of June to August 1999.
(breeding season).
Semen was collected by means of artificial vagina (40°C) from eight clinically healthy black local bucks.
The study was aimed to find out the effect of different concentration of egg yolk on viability of spermatozoa.
Semen was diluted with tries-fructose-citric acid (TFCA) and different levels of egg yolk (0, 3, 6, 12, and 20) %.
The result revealed that the viability of sperms was affected by the concentration of egg yolk used in diluters.
High sperm motility was found in diluted semen with 3 % egg yolk.
