This study is aimed at investigating the effect of using computer in teaching Biology for the tenth grade students compared to the traditional approach.

It is also aimed at knowing the change in the students’ attitudes towards computers, after applying the experimental treatment.

The sample of the study consisted of (68) students, (39 males & 29 females) from AL-Nmow A1 Tarbawi Secondary School for girls and boys, at the Directorate of Education in Amman, for the scholastics year (1999 -2000).

The students were divided into two groups, the control group which consisted of (20) male students, and (14) female students, and the experimental group that consisted of (19) males, and (15) females.

In both groups male and female students were taught separately.

An achievement test in Biology consisted of (33) multiple choice items; and a questionnaire, which consisted of (30) items, were applied before and after the treatment.

Also a computerized education program in Biology (genetics) was used and applied on the experimental group.

In order to analyze the data statistically, analysis of covariance (ANCOVA) was used.

The results showed that there was a significant statistical difference in studying Biology at the level (a = 0.05) related to the teaching approach.

It also showed that there was no statistical difference in achievement related to gender.

The results also showed that there were positive differences in students’ attitudes towards computers after the treatment compared with the control group, and there were no significant statistical differences in students’ attitudes towards computers due to gender in both groups.
