Abstract EN

The purpose of this study was to explore attitudes of educational counselors towards their job in schools.

Also the study attempted to explore differences in their attitudes based on gender, speciality, experience, and their interaction.

To achieve the aims of the study, a valid and reliable scale to measure the attitudes towards the counseling was constructed by the researcher.

The sample of the study consisted of (128) male and female counselors, in the government schools, in the southern rigion of Jordan, during the academic year 2001/2002.

The results show that educational counselors have positive attitudes towards their job on the total score and sub- scores for each dimension.

At the same time, counselors attitudes did not reach the disered level.

Also the results indicated significant differences based on specialty counseling related to male.

And finally the results indicated no significant differences based on gender, experience and interaction, but it found differences in the social relationships dimension, related to male counselors based on specialty variable (counseling).
