Abstract EN

The research aims at presenting the experiences of Britain, Chile, Sultanate of Oman and Argentina, that applied the privatization policy for the water and sewerage sector in their territories.

This is done in order to benefit from the results of these experiences and suggest some methods that suit the socio-economic conditions of Jordan.

The government of Jordan intends to privatize/restructure the water sector for the rest of the Kingdom’s cities.

Also, the research aims at availing some reference mark in the field of regional planning and those who are concerned in planning of public services in a scrunch where transferring management of water sector to private sector instead of public sector is prevailing.

The research has applied the descriptive and deductive methodology in discussing the experiences of the case studies in order to be able to suggest a method that best suites the privatization of water sector in Jordan.

Based on the research results, which summarize the lessons learned from the experiences of the countries studied, the researcher suggests some recommendations among which are the necessity of gradual application of privatization after restructuring and availing legislative framework to protect the rights of beneficiaries and investors.
