Abstract EN

This study aims at reading a tombstone inscription of a Mamluk prince who lived during the reign of king Rukn Eddin Beibars Bin Abdullah Al- Jashinkeer and his emancipated slaves.

The inscription goes back to the year 716 A.H.

(A.D 1316).

It was found in the Islamic Museum of the Sahabi Jafar Bin Abi Talib (The martyr of Muta’h battle in the year 8 A.H(A.D 629) in the Southern Mazar, a village of Al- Kerak.

The importance of this inscription lurks in the fact that it is the only concrete inscription available about this Mamluk prince.

The inscription also takes its importance form the name of the Mamluk sultan Beibars Bin Abdullah, who died in the year 709 A.H (A.D 1309).

The inscription also adds a new nickname for the Mamluk nicknames, namely Raheemuh.

The study describes the text of the inscription, the place, the material, the measures and dimensions of the inscription , the decorative and aesthetic features as well.
