English Abstract

the study is an Investigation to Some of Problems of developing reading comprehension Skills to third years secondary school students in Sudan (Medani City) Morever it is an Attempt to provide some practical solutions to overcome those mentioned Problems.

The study aims at investigating the present situation of teaching reading comprehension skills among the students of third year secondary school in Sudan, its also aims at finding out the problems that hinder the developing of the reading comprehension skills among the previous subjects.

The methodology of study consists of teachers , questionnaire , a students , questionnaire , interviews and observations, the sample of the study consists of (77) male and female teacher’s of English in Medani city , Sudan and (215) male and female students in third years secondary school in Madeni city.

The results of the study revealed that students were slow reader because of their practice to many faulty habits of reading , in addition to their deficiency in many of the reading skills and strategies , it recommends some solutions and suggestions for the previously mentioned problems
