Abstract EN

It has been generally believed that the atlal introductions in the preislamic poems take more or less a typical form, especially with regard to how the poets depict the remaining of the camps of their beloved women.

The current article defies this belief.

It has concluded, after examining as many as17 poetics collections (diwans) attributed to poets from different times, places and tribal origins, that the introductions in question are not patterned.

Although they touch the same topic, they vary both in colour and implication, according to the emotional state the poets underwent at their time of producing their works.

In fact, even the introductions related to the same poet differ in types according to the peculiarities of his own experience.
