The dental need, demands and patterns of service utilization were assessed in a randomly selected sample of 675 subjects in the Rathwania village.
Toothache accounted for most frequent overall dental complaint.
However, the most common motives for seeking dental care varied among children (4-12yr), adolescents (13-18 yr) and adults (19+ yr).
The proportion of normative need of these people varies from 35.5 % to 65% for dental caries and 17% for periodontal disease.
About 50% of the service utilization for the first visit consist primarily of extraction
