Twenty seven pea fields were surveyed during autumns of 1993/94 and 1994/95, and 12 diseased pea samples were collected.
These samples exhibited mosaic, yellowing, vein clearing, leaf rolling, stunting, mottle, necrosis and leaf malformation.
ELISA test indicated the presence of Faba bean necrotic yellows virus (FBNYV) and Bean yellow mosaic virus (BYMV).These two viruses are reported for the first time to infect pea plants in the field in Libya.
