In Al-Anbarrs Al-Insaf fi Masa’l Al- Khilaf (Fairness in Issues of Disagreement), the word Nazir (synonym) is repeated sixty-two times in its singular form, and nine times in its plural form.

This frequency of repetition has prompted the researcher to trace Al- Anbari’s meaning for the word and its usage in his discussion of the disagreement between the Kufic and Basran grammarians.

The paper aims to establish a terminology for this syntactic synonym, and shows its type by using the rule of analogy, so that a definition and correct usage for the word would become possible.
