Abstract EN

Modern linguistics discovered the precision of the contributions of Arab scholars in the Mediev al Ages and their ability to describe the articulation of Arabic sounds including their points of articulation and manners.

This research addresses the following questions: 1.

What is the reason behind the disagreement in pronunciation of this sound? 2.

How can we understand the historical documents more thoroughly through the study of modern linguistics? 3.

Why is the Arabic language called the language of A1 "dad"? 4.

What are the characteristics of this sound in classical standard and local dialects? The study adopted the Modern Linguistic Theory to compare different perceptions especially the descroptive theory, which is concerned with Phonetics.

The study bencfitted from other studies which dicussed al - dad in conjunction with other consonants, such as, those of Kamal Besher, Jan Kantinean, Samir Steitiya, Ismail Amayra.
