Abstract EN

This study aims at recognizing the attitudes of students at public Jordanian universities towards political parties in Jordan.

The sample consisted of 744 male and female students working on their bachelor’s degrees, who are chosen randomly from among students at four public Jordanian Universities, viz.: University of Jordan, Yarmuk University, Mu’tah University and the Jordan University of Science and Technology.

The results of the study revealed that the students’general attitudes towards political parties were neutral, but such attitudes toward the different dimensions of the work of political parties (the justification for political parties, the references of political parties and the positive and negative qualities of political parties) varied in degree and range.

The ratios were as follows: 78.8% (high) for the justification for political parties.

50.7% (medium) for the references of the parties.

74.3% (high) for the negative qualities of the parties.

77.8% (high) for the positive qualities of the parties.

Also, the results showed that there were significant differences between the students majoring in the Humanities and those majoring in the Sciences as to their responses towards the justification for political parties and the negative qualities of the political parties in favor of the students specializing in the Humanities.

Regarding the significant differences between males and females in their responses to the intellectual references and positive and negative qualities of political parties, the females were more responsive to the references of the political parties and the negative qualities of the political parties compared to the males, while the males wrere more responsive to the positive qualities of the political parties.
