Abstract EN

This research is dedicated to the study of the Decapolis and contains an intensive survey of the academic works mentioned in the classical texts and by the present historians.

Besides, the study deals with the geographical destribution of the Decapolis and the roles they played in the Ievantine area, in the various military, commerical and cultural aspects.

Their interest in spreading the Greek languge, and encouraging the local people to use it are likewise highlighted in this study.

This research shows also the architectural styles of the major buildings in the Decapolis, their tradition and Orientation; all of which played their important roles in the Decapolis.
