يعتبر البحث الحالي محولة لتبيان استخدام اللغة من قبل المدرسين و المتعلمين و ذلك لتحقيق وظائف معينة في التفاعل اللفظي باللغة الإنكليزية بوصفها لغة أجنبية في غرفة الصف.
و يعالج البحث وظائف الأسئلة، و تكرار الكلام، و التوسع فيه و أطره التفاعلية.
أجريت المعالجة التفصيلية للمقاطع المأخوذة من ستة دروس في التفاعل اللفظي في اللغة الإنكليزية بوصفها لغة أجنبية داخل غرفة الصف، مسجلة على أشرطة الفيديو و أشرطة الصوت.
و تظهر النتائج أن للغة الإنكليزية، بوصفها لغة أجنبية، وظيفة نقلية في غرفة الصف، بدلا من وظيفتها التفاعلية، إلى جانب وظيفتها في وصف البنى اللغوية، حيث يقوم المدرس بالتحدث عنها مركزا أكثر على شكل الرسالة اللغوية.
و بعبارة أخرى، فإن النزر اليسير من اللغة المستخدمة في غرفة الصف يعتبر لغة بحق ؛ إنها ببساطة أمور تدور حول اللغة.
و ختاما، فإن المضامين البيداغوجية المستنتجة تظهر أن التفاعل اللفظي داخل غرفة الصف يجب أن يشكل تحولا من النمط النقلي إلى الطريقة التفاعلية و التواصلية لتعليم اللغة.
و بهذه الطريقة فإن الوظيفة التواصلية للغة، التي تعد الهدف النهائي لتعلم اللغة بوصفها لغة أجنبية في الوقت الراهن، ستتحقق في التفاعل اللفظي باللغة الإنكليزية، بوصفها لغة أجنبية في غرفة الصف.
و لذلك فإن النهج المرسوم في هذا البحث يمثل محاولة للانتقال من اهتمام حصري بالأشكال اللغوية إلى اهتمام آخر بالوظائف اللغوية.
Abstract EN
The present research is an attempt to show how teachers and learners use language to fulfil particular funetions in verbal interaction in the EFL classroom.
It examines the functions of questions, repetitions, expansions, and interactional frames.
Video recording extracts of six EFL classroom interactions, at the intermediate level, at Damascus University, are examined in detail.
The results show that in the EFL classroom discourse, language has mainly a transactional rather than an interactional function.
Moreover, language is used to serve a metalinguistic function where the teacher talks about language and puts more emphasis on the form of the message.
In other words, very little classroom language is really language; it is simply about language.
