Abstract EN

The present research aims to analyze the textual relationship between three dramas by the Jordanian playwright, Mifleh Al-Idwan’s three plays: ‘Ashiyat Hilm (A Dream of the Eves), Dhilal Al-Qura (The Shadows of the Villages) and Adam Wahidan (Lonely Adam), and their reference to the biography and poems of the Jordanian poet, Arar, the biography of King Misha’: his deeds and wars with his enemies in the 9th century B.C.

as cited in his obelisk, the history of the Nabates, the folklore, the story of Prophet Adam as narrated in the Glorious Qur’an, in the biographies of the prophets and Torah (the Old Testament), and the story of Prophet Jesus as narrated by the Bible, among other things.

Prior to the analysis of the above three texts, the researcher presents a theoretical framework on the concept of ‘intertextuality’, its various definitions, mechanisms, categories and critical impacts as demonstrated in the writers who theorize on him and in the studies conducted by some critics as well as Western and Arab researchers such as Michael Bachtin, Julia Christiva, Jerar Jeneat, Rolan Bart.
