Abstract EN

The book "al-Thilal in the Holly Qur'an" represents the all views and perspectives of Sayyid Qutub in terms of the Islamic vision and existence.

In this context, Sayyid discussed – based on his belief of the correctness of these components- a number of contemporary doctrines: in thought, science, philosophy, policy, economy, arts, sociology (capitalism, communism, existentialism, and the school of psychological analysis.

However, his book "in the Shades of Qur'an" has become a popular one; with three publication during his live and various versions after his death, some of them are legal and the others are illegal.

In this context, the last version was the (37th) one issued by Dar Al-Shorouk-Amman-Jordan, which is the legal publisher of this book."Al- Thilal" consists of six volumes that contain more than 4000 pages of the large size, and was translated in to many languages including: English, French, Turkish, Persian and Urdu.

Some scholars consider the author of "Al- Thilal" as the founder of a new school in explanation, since he linked the Qur'an texts with the real world situations and applied an impressive literary style.

However, this study is an attempt to uncover the essence of this style- a phenomenon that is located within the core interest of the contemporary critical studies; namely: ( the artistic picture) as Sayyid embodied them through his ideas, thoughts and perspectives, and thus came as a strong basis that represent the absent that goes deep in the conscious.

On the other hand, this study was keen to analyze this picture through two components that include tow basic aspects: metaphor and simile.
