Abstract EN

This Article aims at unveiling a treatise treatment of an expression frequently used by orators and writers: "amma ba' du" [now, then....; now to our topic ...; As for Despite is frequent use by speakers and writers of various educational and cultural levels, only very few of them are aware of its underlying grammatical and semantic implications which were elucidated by al-Jawhariy, the writer of the treatise in twenty-five papers distinguished by four topics: 1-The phrase (amma badu) in full, which subdivided into seven issues: rule of occurrence, function, analogies conclusive uses.

2- (amma) alone, which is subdivided into eight issues: meaning, origin grammatical function, co-occurrence with the particle; (fa-) introducing a main clause, intervening phrase in between annexation to nouns, its deletion and ambiguity in its consequent clause.

3- The adverb (ba'du), which is subdivided into six issues: definition, type, inflexion, headword, occurrence without the definite article (al-) and government.

4- The particle (Wa-), which is subdivided into four issues: meaning, obligatory occurrence, its government of the adverb and its occurrence alone without (amma).

My investigation focuses on verifying and documenting the contents of the manuscript as well as primarily correlating and comparing the w'ork with related previous works since editing is the main concern of my work.
