Abstract EN

Quantitative methods have become widely used in various areas of administrations.

Therefore, computer has become of much use in most administrative and managerial processes.

This study aims to further our understanding about the real application of quantitative methods and computer in the public sector in Jordan.

The sample on which the study was carried out comprised all managers and chief sections in twelve ministries.

The two hundred eighty three respondents whose replies consituted the source on which the findings of the study are based were randomly selected.

The findings of the study disclosed the following: First: A medium level of application of quantitative techniques in managerial decision-making is indicated.

Second: The main reason for such medium level of application of quantitative methods in managerial work is attributed to the lack of specialists in this area.

Third: There is a realationship between the extent of knowledge in com' puter and extent to which it is applied and used.

Fourth: Secretatial and typing are the areas where the computer is used most in central ministries.

Based on the findings of the study, it is recommended that introducing specialized academic courses pertaining to the application of quantitative methods in curriculem of economic and administrative sciences faculties is necessary.

Moreover, the study recommends more concentration on the as-pests related to the application of quantitative methods when we are engaged in designing training programs
