Abstract EN
This study deals with present and future situation of water consumption in Karak governorate.
The quantities of water pumped for the various sectors ( except agricultural sector ) was estimated to be 11.86 MCM; about half of this quantity is lost through poor management and destruction to the domestic water pipes.
Assuming that population growth rate is 3.6 %, the study projects that by the year 2025 the population of the governorate of Karak is expected to be approxmaitly 517577 compare to 169552 in 1994.
This study also projects that Karak governorate will face water shortage between 23.04 and 34.44 MCM for the year 2025, assuming that consumption of water were to be between 67.5 and 89.4 m3/year/capita .
A surplus of 40 MCM will be expected if the available water resources in the governorate of Karak were to be developed; this quantity will be used in agricultural purposes and water demand in the nearest govemorates .
