Abstract EN

The aim of this study was to investigate the reasons why children participate in competitive sport programs in Jordan, as well as the difference between children's reasons based on gender and experience.

Two hundred and one (M.= 123, F.=78) child responded to Gill's et.al.

questionnaire from those enrolled in two community organizations for childem's sports: Amman little League, and Orthodoxi little League.

Statistical analysis revealed that the most important reasons for childem's participation in sports were: "like action ", " to improve skills", "to have fun," " to achieve higher perfomance’1, and "Like the team spirit", while" to get a reward" was the least important reason for them.

Results also showed, no significant differences between males and femals in the importance of their reasons to participate, while the differences emerged in their experience, the longer the participants, the more important their reasons.

Recommendations were suggested, in an attempt to develop more positive perspective about the right of children in sport, and to increase childem's sport programs.
