Abstract EN

The aim of this study was to determine the factors affecting the implementation of activities and experiments of the 9th grade chemistry curriculum and its relation to qualification, gender and experience of the chemistry teachers.

The sample of the study consisted of 180 male and female chemistry teachers ( 82% of the population of chemistry teachers in the southern govemorates of Jordan ).

MANOVA and Hotelling - T2 statistics revealed that 28.8% of the activities and experiments were carried out by the 9th grade students, 52.4% of the activities and experiments were carried out by the chemistry teachers, while 18.8% of these activities and experiments were not carried out at all.

Teacher experience , but not qualification or gender , affected the mode of experiment implementation (p < 0.05).

The study also described 14 obstacles that restrict carrying out the chemistry activities and experiments.

The study recommended the need for reducing the number of students in the 9th grade chemistry class, reducing the load of the chemistry teacher, and assigning special laboratory periods to conduct the chemistry activities and experiments.
