Abstract EN

This Study aimed at exploring the extent to which 10th grade social Education Textbooks attend to the Characteristics of a Good Citizen.

To achieve the purpose of the study, the researchers used a questionnaire with (112) Characteristics of a good citizen.

On the basis of These characteristics, the researchers analysed the content of the 10th grade social Education textbooks.

The same questionnaire was administered to a sample of (111) social Education teachers who teach the 10th grade.

The results of the content analysis of the textbooks showed a substantive number of characteristics that have not been attended to, and that attention varies from one textbook to another.

The teachers' views indicated a moderate attention, and no statistically significant differences due to the sex or qualification variables.

The results also showed congruence between the findings of the content analysis and the teachers' views only and on the same order obtained by each area, in the history textbook ie.
