أجري البحث على 150 مريض عانوا من شلل بل على ناحية واحدة، لمدة تراوحت بين 1 – 7 أيام، و تراوحت أعمارهم بين 18 و 70 عاما، و كان 95 منهم من الذكور و 55 من الإناث، و استبعد المرضى الذين اشتبه في أن يكون شلل الوجه ناتجا من سبب آخر، أو لم تسمح حالتهم الصحية بتناول عقاري البردنزولون أو السيكلوفير.
قسم المرضى إلى 3 مجموعات من 50 مريض كل منها، و أعطيت المجموعة الأولى دواء السيكلوفير بواقع 400 مجم 5 مرات يوميا، بالإضافة إلى العلاج المعتاد و هو العلاج بالموجة القصيرة، و التدليك و التمرينات العلاجية، و التنبيه بالفراديك، و لمدة عشرة أيام و تخفيض العلاج تدريجيا لمدة 10 أيام أخرى، أما المجموعة الثانية فقد عولجت بنبضات من الوخز بالإبر الصينية، و المجموعة الثالثة قدم لها العلاج النمطي فقط.
كان هناك تحسن تام في 82 % من مرضى المجموعة الأولى، و 100 % من مرضى المجموعة الثانية و 80 % من المجموعة الثالثة.
Abstract EN
This Study was conducted on 150 patients presenting with unilateral Bell’s palsy of 1-7 day’s duration.
Their age ranged between 18 and 70 years.
They comprised 95 males and 55 females.
Patients who had a different etiology were excluded, as well as those who had contraindications to acyclovir or steroid therapy.
The patients were divided randomly into 3 groups, 50 patients each and treated for 10 days.
Group I received the conventional therapy in the form of prednisolone 1 mg/kg/day, short wave diathermy, faradic stimulation and exercises, plus acyclovir 400 mg five times daily.
Group II had pulsed acupuncture.
Group III had conventional therapy alone.
Complete recovery was achieved in 82 % of group I, 100 % of group II and 80 % of group III.
Contracture and synkinesis were most common in group III.
