Abstract EN

The obesity protein termed leptin is produced by adipocyte and is thought to act as an afferent satiety signal regulating weight through suppressing appetite and stimulating energy expenditure.

Leptin has been found to be elevated in patients with liver cirrhosis and may contribute to the prognosis in these patients.

The aim of this study was to prove or negate the role of leptin in liver cirrhosis, together with correlation between level of serum leptin in one hand and level of serum insulin and measures of body fat mass on the other hand.
