Abstract EN

This dtudy examines the” Prose Poem” From an applied critical perspecive by focussing on its textual embodiment, i.e., its being an expressive form, in pursuit of cohesion and coherence in this genre.

It looks at the prose poem from a neutral stance by initially treating it as a text or discourse, using modem criticism, s jargon, in order to distinguish it from language in the Linguistic terminology (De Saussure), that is its being the congnitive repertoire possessed by the communituy.

The paper is an attempt to probe the “expressionistic effectiveness “ of the prose poem in terms of the writer,s awareness that language is the most important touchstone in demonstrating poeticness, and that rhyme and alliteration are not necessary conditions for realizing it, but without our taking for granted that this genre should be depleted of prosody, because we still believe in the necessary linkage between poetry and prosody in general, whether this be extrinsic or intrinsic prosody.
