Abstract EN

This study is concerned with the semantic (referential, ideational) and technical dimension of Jawhara al- suffarinie’s poetry.

The semantic aspect deals with the idea of “woman” in her poetry together with the idea of pan- Arab national feeling with emphasis on the events taking place in the Arab world.

The study points out that the patriotic dimension in her poetry is very distinct, for the concept of homeland is a homogeneous mixture of feminine passions.

The study then concentrate on the topics tackled where the main genres are political poetry which occupies a large portion of her two collections, religious poetry which is more or less political poetry clothed in na Islamic cloak, and finally elegiac poetry which is related to the “Conflict” and its outcome.

The technical dimension deals with the poetess’s passions, imaginative gifts, and images.

It points out that her passions are divided between hope and despair’ therefore, love and terars overwhelm her works and reveal that the meanings embodied in her poetry are restricted to land and homeland.

It also studies the style employed, the historical and geographical aspects, and the high occurrence of vocabulary related to the woman's dispositions, passions, and inclinations.

Finally, this dimension criticizes her poetry for grammatical, linguistic, and metric errors.
