Abstract EN

The reader of modem poetry is attracted by a prosodic and musical phenonmenon at which the researcher halts pondering and querying, that is, the recurrence of the foot faa cilu which is derived from the foot faa cilun in Al-Mutadaarak metre.

The reason for this query lies in the fact that this foot was not approved by ancient Arab proso-dists, neither was it used by Arab poets.

The recurrence of this foot in the works of a large number of modernist poets, let alone its lightness and elegance prompted me to examine this phenomenon in an attempt to offer a prosodic and musical interpretation that may explain its noted receptiveness by the ear..
