Abstract EN

' Uruan had been known to cnjoy some measure of local political autonomy since it embraced Islam.

Their rulers were managing their local affairs and running economic affairs despite the fact that they were under the domination of the Islamic Caliphate in Medina.

Some of the important questions that this study will raise are: What were the political conditions of 'Uman during the Urnayyad period"? Was 'Uman entirely, independent of the Umayyads rule" When did Umayyad political influence over 'Umanbegin' What were the features of their policy" Also, what were the political conditions of 'Urnan during the period of political disturbances in the Umayyad period') Who was governing 'Uman? And what were their political activities"? Why and how did 'Uman submit to Umayyad authority" What were the consequences of s ubmiss ion' And finally, what were the policies of the latter Umayyad Caliphs towards 'Uman? And what were the consequences of such policies).

This study will attempt to answer the aforementioned questions by shedding light on the political conditions of 'Uman during the Umayyad period.
