Abstract EN

This paper aims at describing the status of doubt in Islamic legisla- tion.

It aims to determine doubt major utilities.

Also it examines the degree in which legislation relay on doubt in certain issues.

Meaning of doubt are determined and described.

Doubt is used to mean: suspicion; information; knowledge; belief; certainty; assurance; self-interest and expectations.

Moreover, doubt is cateorized into two broad categories: (1) preferable doubt (strong expectations) and (2) unpreferable doubt (weak expectation).

The existence of doubt in legis- lation makes a room for legislative system development and adaptation.

Future studies is needed to explore more meanings and applications of doubt in legislation.
