Abstract EN

Urban Geography has passed through several stages of development in research, study and concepts, which led sometimes to confused understanding of some of these concepts.

Such confusing led to the undertaking of this study which aims to follow the development of research approaches in Urban Geography and the changing of emphasis of subjects in Urban Geography.

It was clear that although traditional approaches are important in urban studies, but there is a pressing need in the present time to adopt a complex of approaches in urban studies to achieve deep analysis in urban studies and to avoid some deficits in certain approaches.

The study call for Arab and Moslem researchers to more to a new stage in urban studies which emphasis on analysing and seeking for causes, results and relationships between urban phenomena.

Such emphasis would lead to the development of general rules which control the process of urban phenomena growth to convene with the features and structure of Islamic cities away from copying or adopting radical solutions to urban problems.

The study suggestedseveral aspects of research which will serve creating a balancing urban planning.
