Abstract EN

This paper deals with elegiac poetry during the 'Riddah’ wars (after the death of prophet Mohammad (P.B.

V.H.).

It tackles the issue from two aspects : subjective and technical From the subject viewpoint, the paper presents the contents of the poetry of:both Muslims as well as "Murtadeen;‘ (apostasy people).

The writer found poems written by unfamous poets lamenting Muslim martyrs that were messengers or islamic propagandists or the Perished in Islamic holy battles.

In the poetry that bemouning.the death of the apostasy people, the focus was on Mutammim lb n Nuwayirah‘s elegiac poems of his brother Maiik.

These poems include three prominent features of old elegiac poem, namely, lamentation, commemoration and consolation.

From the technical aspect, the writer: noticed that in most cases elegiac poems lack manu artistic features and carried historical delineations pertaining to the elegiac poems of Mutammirn.

The writer tackled some technical features, such as.
