Abstract EN

Secondary comparative data on indicators of Arab human development and its growth which are used in this research cover a iong period of thirty years from 1960 to 1990.

The basic indicators of Arab human development analyzed in this research are : expected age at brith, rate of literacy, and per-capita income.

The data used and analyses presented in the research show that most Arab countries (including some Oil-rich Arab countries) achieved during the period covered low to moderate levels of human development.

These levels are comparable to those achieved by Turkey, and some poor Latin American countries.

It is hoped that the research will direct more attention to the study of human development and its indicators.

This may lead to longitudinal analysis of the independant effects of these indicators oon economic development in Arab countries.
