study deals with the solid wastes in south AL-MAZAR county.

It was that the total Thisquantity of solid wastes is 26684 m3/year and the total transport cost is 70828.2 JD.

Thus the transport cost of 1 m3 is 2.65 JD.

It has been also shown what the sum of the total deficit of the total cost is 42182.5 JD/year.

The results have demon¬strated that the volume of solid waste per person a day is 0.002 m3, and concerning the disposal of solid wastes, it was found that 40% - 100% of the county population use open container to collect them.

The study showed that the population is willing to use the plastic bags or container.

Finally the results showed that the quantity of solid wastes that can be recycled is: 3053.88 m3 metals, 2362.1 m3 glass, 3718.5 m3 plastics, 3978.7 m3 papers and cartons, and 13571.12 m3 organic materials and others.

Our study recommends to use a scientific method to dispose the solid wastes and to devel¬op AL-KARAK land filling site to protect our water and environment from pollution.
