Abstract EN

To the modern scholars it was an established fact that the matter of tajrih al - ruwat wa ta’ dil-uhum (to declare the reliability or unreliability of the narrators) was restricted to the narrators of Hadith.

Studying the works of literature Mid criticism shows clearly that such a methodology was strictly applied in studying poetry because it was narrated by narrators who might be reliable or unreliable.

Hence, this study is an attempt to provide several examples of declaring the reliability or unreliability of the narrators of poetry by the critics.

This study also discussed the most famous critical problems influenced by this methodology such as arrogation, fabrication, post-classical poems and the different aspects of fanaticism especially racialism.

The conclusion of this study may be led to the fact that the modem scholars are in need of the methodology of al - Jarh wa ai-Ta' dil in studying the classical poems to enable them to provide a clear image of the Arabic poetry.
