Abstract EN

The paper aims at studying the possibilities of urbanization development in Ma'arab region which is one of the main region in Yemen that enjoys a distinguished cultural and historical status.

Moreover, Ma'arab is distinguished for its geographical location that mingles with the arid areas in al-ruba' al khalii (The Empty Quarter) .

This urbanization process can not be achieved unless a serious and realistic study of the natural, human and economical resources is carried out.

Thus, it is hoped to get a golden chance for fulfilling a balanced future development as well as presenting suggestions and necessary procedures for the process of development along with some authentic data supported by maps, diagrams and photos.

Such a study is expected to be so difficult because it requires a reported field studies of the region.

Nevertheless, It will certainly come out with fruitful consequences which will finally improve the performance of the region and achieve a kind of positive balance for the various activities of urbanization in it.

In addition, it will create an obvious harmony among several parts of the region and between this specific territory and other Yemeni regions particularly the neighbouring ones as the governorates of (Baydha, Shabwa and AlJaw ).

We should not neglect the essential needs that must be satisfied in the region especially the human ones which demand a highly competent web of necessary facilities for the.

inhabitants, particularly the cultural, educational, health and all infrastructure facilities which will in turn contribute to the urbanization development in the region.

The study is not confirmed to the urban areas in Ma’arab but in rather transcends it to cover the rural areas which are socially, economically and the availability of the essential needs depend upon the main urban centers in Ma’arab.
