Abstract EN

Arabic words which are traditionally assigned to the noun class are better treated as adjectives.

Though the argument is mainly syntactic.

this treatment will also simplify the morphological description of the language.

No advantage gained by the old treatment is lost if this suggestion is accepted.

These claims which are made with respect to the spoken Arabic of the Sudan.

can in my opinion.

be generalized to apply to other dialects of Arabic as well as to the Modern Standard Arabic.
