Abstract EN

This study deals with (TRIPS) as one of the many treaties of the world Trade Organization and its effect on Jordanian laws governing intellectual property and its economic repercussions on Jordan as a case in point.

Following its accession to WTO in 1999.

The study is divided into three sections.

The first section discusses the GATT and WTO particularly because accession to the WTO entails accession to all of its treaties.

The second section concentrates on the articles of (TRIPS) as proclaimed in Morocco Declaration for the establishment of the WTO.

Finally, the third section concentrates on the effects of (TRIPS) on Jordanian legislation and Jordanian economy.

It also briefly discusses the effect of the treaty on developing countries, including the Arab countries, which undoubtedly provides the Arab countries with a point of reference in dealing with the organization whether they are existing members or members to be.
