Abstract EN

This study aimed to find out the manifestations of social alienation among Palestinian university youth.

To achieve this, the descriptive analytical method was used.

A scale was constructed and administered to a sample (469) of male and female students at Al-Aqsa University.

The study findings were as follows: - The total score for social alienation among Palestinian university youth (according to the sample ) amounted to ( 61.3%).

- The most widespread manifestations of alienation among Palestinian youth were powerlessness, social rebellion , anomie, reification, social isolation , and then meaninglessness.

- Males were more alienated than females in the areas of meaninglessness, rebellion and reification.

- Camp youth were more rebellious than youth living in the city or the village.

- Students belonging to the categories of income (3000 -4000 shekels ) were characterized by powerlessness, and social isolation more than students belonging to other categories of income.

-Students belonging to Fatah Organization were characterized by meaninglessness, anomie and social isolation more than students belonging to other factions, followed by students belonging to the leftist organizations ( The Popular Front, The Democratic Front, People's Party, Fida and Liberation Front ) and students belonging to the organization of The Salafist Jihadist , Islamic Jihad and Hamas successively.

- Students whose Parents have a secondary or a college level of education were characterized by rebellion and reification more than other students.

- Students of Administrative Sciences were more rebellious than the rest of the students, followed by students of the Faculty of Physical Education, Faculty of Education students, and students of Arts and Humanities.

- Students of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities showed more Reification than other students.

- Students whose parents are public sector employees were more alienated in all manifestations than the rest of students, followed by students whose parents are staff of the security services.
