The aim of this article is to throw light on the main characteristics which distinguish the two kinds of concepts: theoretical and operational.

However, concepts in sociology are generally regarded as being at a lower level of abstraction than theories, but they are necessary parts of such a theory; since theories are constructed from concepts.

Because reality is changing, then concepts are to be so.

For this reason, conceptual clarification and redefinition are continuing tasks in sociology.

Thus concepts had to be analysed and renewed according to reality.
