Abstract EN
The present study has included collection (98) samples of three different vegetables types (Carrot( Daucus carota),Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum), Cucumber (Cucumis sativus) ) from markets of AL–Shatra city in Thi-Qar province during the period from October 2013 to the end of April 2014 to detect parasitic contamination in salad vegetables and to know the extent of effect for some environmental changes on reduction rate of contamination, samples were examined with concentration method (Sedimentation and floatation).
The total percentage of contamination vegetables was 29.6 %, Carrot was the most contaminated vegetables with incidence rate 42 % followed by Tomato 40% then Cucumber 3.3 % .
Six parasites were identificated in this study were Entamoeba histolytica 14.3 %, Giardia lamblia 12.2 %, Trichomonas hominis 7.1 %, Taenia spp.
.1 %, Ascaris lumbricoides 1 % and Trichuris trichiura 1 %.
