Abstract EN
Arabic grammarians used to divide words into: nouns, verbs and particles (huruf).
They found some words have characteristics of both verbs and nouns though they behave on the whole as verbs.
They are divided into: imperative, present and past.
Grammarians agreed that the imperatives are non- indicative (insha’iya).
But they supposed the other two parts indicative.
This false impression has obsessed.
It’s origin was their interpretation.
The original structure was interpreted by indicative one.
So it took place as infection.
This research has explained in details how this illusion spread under the effect of such interpretations.
Some interpretations reflected meanings that never accord with reality.
Corrections have been done in order to bring back such accordance.
Light has been shed on what the Egyptian simplification committee decided in 1938.
I endeavoured to harmonize its achievement with the basic principles of the traditional trend of the classic grammarians.
I hope I have done something of qualitative value which is to free Arabic grammar from some illusions still attached to the grammar of school and university curriculum.
