Abstract EN

This article explores the philosophical text in Mahmud Darwish’s poem “The Cypress has Broken", revealing the similarities it shares with Nietzsche’s wellknown ideas on knowledge and truth.

The study takes as its standpoint Deleuze and Guattari’s claim that artists are “half-philosophers” who are “much more than philosophers”.

Towards its conclusion, the article decides that the poem is not among Darwish’s texts that contribute to awarding him this status, for philosophical problems that hindered the poem from being comparable in value to Nietzsche’s highly influential claims.
